USTC Scholarship 2019 (UPDATED)

You are suggested to contact an eligible supervisor. But if you cannot find an accepting supervisor for accepting you, please first complete your online application and USTC will help to send your file to professors in relating fields (Only if it is complete)

If you successfully found a supervisor for accepting you, please send him/her the provisional Acceptance of International Student by USTC Professor (download at the bottom of the page). After the acceptance form is signed and stated, it will be sent back to you, and you need to upload the scanned copy in the online application system of USTC

Step1: Online application for USTC Scholarship
The online application (http://isa.ustc.edu.cn/) includes filling in the application form and uploading supporting documentations.
 Create your online application ID with a valid email account and input a password of your own. You will receive a confirmation email. The reference number should be indicated at enquiries concerning your application AT ALL TIMES.
 Log on your application ID and fill in all the information and upload required documents. The online application can be accessed and edited as many times as you like before the deadline of application. Your information will be automatically saved once you click “NEXT” when you finish each step.
 Submit your application form by clicking “Confirm and Submit” upon completion. Note that once your application pass “file review”, your information CANNOT be changed.
 You can click “Status” in the Quick Links to check your application status

Step 2: Original Application Documents Submission
After applying online, applicants must submit application materials to Office of International Cooperation of USTC by post mail or in person (application materials submitted by email will not be accepted). Application materials arriving after April 10, 2018 will not be accepted.Application materials (in duplicate, A4 size)
a. Application form for USTC Scholarship 
b. Acceptance Letter from USTC Professor (Not for undergraduate students)

c.Recommendation letter:
 For undergraduate students: one recommendation letter provided by universities;
 For graduate students: two recommendation letters provided by professors of applicant’s last school;
d. Photocopy of passport (ordinary passport)
e. Notarized photocopy of highest degree certificate and documents showing their status as university students.
f. Foreigner Physical Examination Form(download in the attachment)g. Proof of knowledge of English and/or Chinese;h. Study plan

About the Program
USTC Scholarship is established for international students to study at University of Science and Technology of China.
USTC fellowship has two categories as USTC fellowship A and USTC fellowship B.

  • USTC fellowship A is designed for degree seeking students;
  • USTC fellowship B is designed for exchange students from partner universities.
Application Deadline
  • For degree-seeking students: 31 March, 2018;
  • For exchange students: 1 March, 2018 for fall semester;

1 September, 2018 for spring semester;

Coverage of the scholarship
>>Free tuition;>>Monthly living allowance: Bachelor’s degree students: RMB 2,500 Yuan,

Master’s degree students: RMB 3,000 Yuan,

Doctoral degree students: RMB 3,500 Yuan;

>>Free housing arranged by USTC

>>Comprehensive Medical Insurance

Qualifications for scholarship application
>>Applicants for USTC fellowship A must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizenship;
  • Be not awardee of Chinese Government Scholarship;
  • Applicants for bachelor degree studies must hold a high school diploma, HSK5 and be under the age of 30;
  • Applicants for master’s degree studies must hold a bachelor’s degree (equivalent to bachelor’s degree in China) and be under the age of 35;
  • Applicants for doctoral degree studies must hold a master’s degree (equivalent to master’s degree in China) and be under the age of 40.

 

>>Applicants for USTC fellowship B must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizenship;
  • Be exchange students from USTC partner universities;

Duration of scholarship is depended on the duration of applicant’s program.

Applicants for graduate studies are encouraged to contact prospective supervisors prior to application and send theProvisional Acceptance of International Student by USTC Professor (right click and save the attachment)to the Office of International Cooperation of USTC together with other documents.

Step 3:Applicants must submit application materials to Office of International
Cooperation of USTC by post mail or in person (application materials submitted by email will not be accepted). Application materials forspring semester arriving after 1,September, will not be accepted; Application materials for fall semester arriving after 30,May, will not be accepted.
Required application materials include:

  2. Acceptance Letter from USTC Professor (Not for undergraduate students
  3. Two Recommendation letters provided by professors of applicant’s last school
  4. Photocopy of passport (ordinary passport)
  5. Notarized photocopy of highest degree certificate and academic transcript
  6. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (download in the attachment)
  7. Proof of knowledge of English and/or Chinese
  8. Study plan
>>For exchange students:
Step 1:Download Application form for USTC Scholarship (right click and save the attachment)
Applicants for graduate studies are encouraged to contact prospective supervisors prior to application and send the Acceptance Letter from USTC Professor (right click and save the attachment)to the Office of International Cooperation of USTC together with other documents.
Step 2: Prepare the following application materials and send them to the supervisor who accepts you.
Required application materials include:

  1. Application form for USTC Scholarship (right click and save the attachment)
  2. Acceptance Letter from USTC Professor(Not for undergraduate students)
  3. Recommendation letter:
    • For undergraduate students: one recommendation letter provided by universities
    • For graduate students: two recommendation letters provided by professors of applicant’s last school
  4. Photocopy of passport (ordinary passport)
  5. Notarized photocopy of highest degree certificate and documents showing their status as university students
  6. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form(download in the attachment)

Supervisors will later send the application documentation to the teaching secretaries of relating schools, who submit the documentation to the office of international cooperation in the time required. Applicants will be informed the final results after the review by USTC selection committee who finalize the list of awardees.
